Every Wednesday and Friday –

After oral arguments, the Justices must make their decision on the case.  This is what’s known as the “Justices’ Conference”.  The Justices’ Conference takes place on Wednesday and Friday every week.  The Justices’ frequently discuss the cases with clerks and occasionally their peers prior to Conference.
The Conference room is generally a closed meeting between the Justices’.  Once discussion between the Justices’ is concluded and all arguments are heard the Chief Justice casts the first ballot.
This past week brought some cases many are watching including the possibility of Gerrymandering in Wisconsin.  This case could redraw voting boundaries throughout the country and this decision could come down to one vote in the Supreme Court during Conference day
