<div class='mailmunch-forms-before-post' style='display: none !important;'></div><div class="zn-body__paragraph speakable">After a recent ruling issued by a San Francisco-based judge &#8211;The Justice Department has taken the rare step of asking the Supreme Court to review the opinion &#8212; all this before a federal appeals court can weigh in. In most cases the Supreme Court prefers that the cases have gone through all the motions prior to ending up in front of the nine justices.</div>

<p>Earlier 2018 in the <a href="https://www.supremecourt.gov/">Supreme Court</a> had granted for the Trump Administration&#8217;s request to &#8220;expedite briefs in its appeal of a lower court judge’s ruling that the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program must remain in place&#8221;. President Trump had announced that the DACA program would end in the coming year. A San Francisco Federal Judge stopped this from happening when he recently ruled against the Trump Administration attempts to end <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deferred_Action_for_Childhood_Arrivals">DACA</a>.</p>

<p>The <a href="https://www.justice.gov/">Department of Justice </a>has asked the Supreme Court to dismiss the Federal Judge&#8217;s ruling by questioning the legality of 9th Circuit Court decision.</p>
<p>The opponents of the Administrations action will file their briefs by Fed 2nd. After which the Justices will decide whether or not to hear the case.</p>
<p>The DACA program was originally put in place to protect undocumented immigrants who were brought to the U.S. illegally as a child. One unintended outcome of the DACA program was thousands of unaccompanied minors flocking to the U.S. in 2015-2016 to seek DACA protections.</p><div class='mailmunch-forms-in-post-middle' style='display: none !important;'></div>
